To whom it may concern:
This is to advise you that a short story posted on your website, "The Man Who Loved the Sea," purportedly by one Phillip Barcia, is in fact a plagiarism of a copyrighted story of my own, also titled "The Man Who Loved the Sea" and originally published in THE MAGAZINE OF FANTASY AND SCIENCE FICTION for September 1995, copyright (c) 1995 by Alan Brennert.
I am not the only author whose work has been appropriated by Mr. Barcia; there is a detailed article on his activities at http://www.locusmag.com/2000/News/News04c.html.
I assume you published this unknowingly, and since you seem to be a not-for-profit organization I will not ask for any compensation. But I do insist that you remove this story from your website immediately, and inform your readers of the true authorship of the story.
Sincerely,
Alan Brennert
