THE HEART OF THE MATTER

E-mail   By Gary D. Jackson  Bio/Address

"Mr. Jackson."

"Your Honor."

"By the power vested in me by the United States government,

I hereby sentence you to life...

"0 thank you, your Honor."

... In the Federal Bureau of Prisons."

"But ... but you sentenced me to life?"

"Yes, Mr. Jackson, I did."

"Then you said in prison?"

"Your point, Mr. Jackson?"

"But, you sentenced me to life?"

"Yes."

"Then you said in prison?"

"Isn't that where most people do life?"

"Hell no! That’s where people do death!"

"Your choice, Mr. Jackson."

"I choose life."

"I gave you life."

"Yeah, but then you said in prison."

"Yes. I did."

"So which is it gonna' be?"

"What?"

"Are you giving me life, or are you giving me prison?"

"I'm giving you both, Mr. Jackson."

"You can't!"

"And why not?"

"It's gotta' be one or the other."

"Explain, Mr. Jackson."

"Because life is different than prison."

"Life is different in prison, Mr. Jackson. You'll see."

"Bailiff!"
