IN GAOL

E-Mail      By Barry Goode     Bio/Address

The District Court has judged me,
I'm kept against my will,
My family waits despondent,
They'll have to pay the bill.

In prison, and found guilty,
Numbered but not shamed,
bowed but not defeated,
because I own His name.

All the things I've cherished,
are fading with each day
All the sins I've played with,
have almost passed away.

I'm in gaol but not defeated
In chains, but yet I'm free.
Behind steel bars that hold me,
And yet I'm held by Thee.

Old memories are fading fast,
But faith grows stronger still,
Absence makes the heart grow fond,
While Christ works on the will.

Confined, but not in bondage,
Restricted, yet I'm free
Discouraged, often humbled,
But my soul's at Liberty.
