MENTAL ISOLATION

E-Mail By Bobby E. Neble    Bio/Address

Another misdeed, the dreadful punishment awaits

surrounded by silence and engulfed in nothingness

the inner demons have been alerted.

The tense beginning moments fade away

boredom becomes idleness

random thoughts begin to swirl around.

Nagging questions of past deeds arise

the feeling of loss accompanied with a shudder

a giggle stifled, madness lurking.

The demons have finally arrived

their shrill voices piercing and suffocating

full of laughter, ridicule, and mockery.

The sound of flesh on flesh

an audible sigh

a momentary reprieve.

Malicious and devious voices

"What is a slap?

Surely you can do better..."

Gritting teeth, ripping flesh

fingernails digging and clawing

comfort... joy... bliss...

Blinding lights and frantic movement

reassuring words and phrases

STAT... IV... PLASMA...

A sense of victory

demons subdued

peacefulness.
