Longing

Last winter I thought of love and you
near the warmth of the fireplace
chilled wind outside, window filled with dew
The wind howls as it passes through
the memories of our togetherness retraced
last winter I thought of love and you
Sitting, reading old letters as I usually do
scrutinizing perfumed pages with grace
chilled wind outside, window filled with dew
Holding myself together with glue.
I count the memories, yet wanting to erase
last winter I thought of love and you
Remembering pink patterns on your shoes
pointy toes and puffy white laces
chilled wind outside, window filled with dew
Facing the thought of having to chose
an existence without you, surely I would lose
last winter I thought of love and you
chilled wind outside, window filled with dew
