A Gift from Father to Son

by Roland F. Stoecker, Jr.

It was passed down to him

He passed it down to me

I passed it down to him

It lays dormant in my son

One day he will pass it on to his son

A gift of poison

Swallowed in small doses,

So it wouldn’t kill us

Slowly the poison spreads,

Killing every thing we love.
