LETTER FROM MONTEGO KING
Thank you for everything. You helped
me make the right decision that saved my life. I was moved to Central Prison
8/5/08. This is the roughest prison in North Carolina. Also, death row inmates
are housed here and the executions
are done here. Over the years the death row total of inmates has grown to the
point they had to build a bigger housing unit to house them. Where I’m
processing is the old death row. It’s like being in a dungeon. Looks are all
gloomy. The only way I can get sunshine is if they pump it into me. (just
joking!)
Please tell the legal team that I plan to write to another of their clients. They are having a hard time seeing eye to eye with him on what he should do. It is a capital case and the only plea the DA has offered is Life Without Parole. Once I get settled in I’m going to write the kid and give him some wise words of my wisdom. It’s all about saving lives. A life can be taken so fast. But it is hard to save one. I see the death row inmates in the cafeteria just about every day as I am moving through the prison. They wear red jump suits. Most of the guys wave with a warm smile. But deep down inside that smile is really sadness. My heart goes out to them. I could have been in the same position. Yes, I am a survivor and you and I both share that sprit so we both are going to make it through these difficult times in our lives. I must end for now. Take care and please stay in touch.
Thank you again for your support you have given me over the past year. Your friend for life.
