The Lonely Man

By Willis Davidson

There once was a story about a man who had died

Though he had a family, no one had cried

There were no drugs in his life and no signs of suicide

And yet this man had simply died

The man had food to eat and books to read

And yet he still had a need

The man lived life from day to day

Yet there was no one to help him pray

He had a place to lay his weary head and

Still felt cold inside instead

He had all kinds of people around

Yes, he lived life safe and sound

And yet

No one cried when they laid him in the ground

The man was not dead when he died

For he had died deep inside

Though the man had lots of plans and a wonderful start

The man simply died of a broken heart

Yes the man was left alone

And now he simply has gone on

Rest in peace goes to the man who died

From simply being left all alone.
