Good News from friend Zolo Agona Azania
On October 17, 2008 my long, arduous and protracted struggle for freedom and
liberation, while laboring under the sentence of death climaxed in a qualitative
state of victory of a sort. Through the valuable help of each and every one of
you, i was blessed to have the hanger’s noose removed from around my neck.
Again. i am, indeed, both happy and grateful.
i was 26 years of age when my death penalty saga began. i had no idea how this drama would conclude. i had the ironclad will and resolve to fight to the death! There was neither any doubt nor modicum of hesitation in my mind about the seriousness of the matter or what i would do. My top-of-the-line defense team, Michael E. Deutsch, John L. Stainthorp, Jessie A. Cook and Erica Thompson exhibited the same tenacious fighting spirit in every way.
A great debt is owed to the many people who have supported me. To all those too
numerous to mention who unselfishly contributed resources and love, you are so
greatly appreciated.
i would mention every one’s name individually.. .who supported me for nearly
three decades, including the No Death Penalty for Zolo Committee, but it would
be a long list and i do not want to neglect anyone. All of you are important to
me; and i would rather face the death penalty again than to slight my friends,
for i know what true friendship and love is.
Take good care. The struggle for total liberation continues!
A firm clenched fist salute to you, Zolo
Note:
Zolo could have taken a plea bargain that would have freed him in three years,
but he has chosen to continue trying to prove his innocence in the federal
court. Thus, he will be imprisoned seven years more. He has been transferred
from death row to general population.
